8th ctrlX AUTOMATION Trade Press Conference

On September 29, 2026, Bosch Rexroth presented the latest developments in the automation platform ctrlX AUTOMATION at the 8th ctrlX AUTOMATION trade press conference at the Robert Bosch GmbH research and development center in Renningen. The focus was on portfolio expansions, smart solution packages for faster time-to-market, the further development of ctrlX OS, and the integration of artificial intelligence at the platform level of ctrlX AUTOMATION.

The participants first received a comprehensive overview of the extensions of the ctrlX AUTOMATION portfolio:

  • Functional safety: The rapid-response safety solution ctrlX SAFETY covers functional safety from SafeMotion to a Safety PLC app.
  • Drive technology: The new Economy Line from ctrlX DRIVE offers a cost-efficient variant specifically designed for essential drive functions – without compromising on quality and consistency.
  • Smart solution packages: New, preconfigured smart solution packages were introduced for industries such as energy technology, building protection, and mobile robotics. The solution toolkit for mobile robotics was demonstrated to participants through the live presentation of the mobile humanoid robot RoXi.

You can read more information about the portfolio expansions in this press release on ctrlX AUTOMATION.

Highlight this year: ctrlX AUTOMATION is "AI ready by Design". Artificial intelligence is becoming an active part of architecture. With Agent iXi, a central agent was introduced that can plan tasks and execute them directly using connected tools and skills. More information about Agent iXi can be found here.

The partner network ctrlX World continues to grow and now includes over 110 partners. New partnerships and apps have been introduced, for example, in the areas of Quality Inspection, Cybersecurity, and Gripper Technology. As an extension of the ecosystem, the new "Silicon Partners" category was introduced, featuring semiconductor manufacturers AMD and NXP.

This year, two new ctrlX OS OEM partnerships were also announced. During the event, the companies evopro and Grossenbacher were introduced as new partners who utilize the Linux-based operating system ctrlX OS on their own hardware.

Aligned with this expanding hardware diversity, the latest advancements surrounding the operating system ctrlX OS were presented. The new LTS release ctrlX OS 4.6 enhances the entire ecosystem with features such as single sign-on, advanced OPC UA security functionalities, and Git-based version management of app data directly integrated on the device.

As part of the subsequent guided tour in the afternoon through the research and development center at the Renningen site, participants were given the opportunity to gain exclusive insights into research and development.
